Jamilid Romero-Ortiz

Student Intern at Alce su Voz

Jamilid Romero-Ortiz is a first-generation Mexican American from Newton, Kansas, and a senior at Wichita State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish.

She currently serves as an intern with Alce Su Voz, where she works to help community members access healthcare services by educating them about their rights to professional medical interpretation services. Growing up, Jamilid often interpreted for her parents during medical appointments, an experience that inspired her passion for improving language access and advocating for culturally welcoming healthcare.

After graduation, Jamilid plans to continue serving her community by helping individuals overcome language barriers and ensuring they receive the support and resources they deserve.

In her free time, she enjoys playing pickleball, sports photography, dancing, and baking.
