Student Intern at Alce su Voz
Serenity “Ren” McDonald is an undergraduate intern with Alce su Voz and the President of the Alce su Voz student coalition. Ren is pursuing two degrees at Wichita State University: a B.A. in Spanish and a B.A. in Applied Linguistics with concentration in Speech Pathology and Communication Sciences. Ren can be frequently found tabling for Alce su Voz at community and school events, where she discusses rights to language access in healthcare and drives public engagement in our mission. Through her work with the Alce su Voz student coalition, Ren spotlights the voices of students who’ve shouldered the responsibility of translating for family members in medical settings. She is passionate about child advocacy and serving the community.
In her spare time, Ren creates multimodal fiber art and enjoys studying world languages, including Spanish, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and ASL.
